There is no right or wrong way to give birth!

Everyone's birth is unique, different and personal to the person giving birth and that is what makes it so amazing.... There is no right or wrong way to give birth and there is no right or wrong way to Hypnobirth! What matters most is that you feel like you did the best that you could with the circumstances you were given... and that is all we can ask of ourselves.

We cannot compare ourselves

to our mothers or friends. If they wish to share their story with you, what happened to them does not mean it has to happen to you! My advise is to ask people to only tell you positive stories and keep their negative or traumatic experience to themselves.. They think it is to help prepare you but in actual fact it is just instilling more fear within you.

If you are pregnant now even if you are nearing your due time it means that you still have time to make your birth the best possible experience.. Even if you need to have a Caesarean!

How is this you ask??

Because you have within you the power to decide how you are going to approach your birth.... If you can approach your birth with positive a mindset and equip yourself with tools and techniques to help you relax then that is what your experience can be... A Calm, Relaxed and Positive birth.

Knowledge is power!! The more you understand the mind/body connection and how every thought you think (positive or negative) there is a reaction in the body, the more you can make the decision to either think positive or negative throughs.

This is probably one of the biggest lessons I learnt when preparing not just for my birth but for my life... The power of mind over body.. Get your mind right and your body will follow.

After shocking myself with my ability to birth (Yes I still had moments of doubt and not knowing what to expect and this is also normal) and getting through each birth with the support of my partner and each birth being different in their own beautiful ways what I really want to share with you is that you can NOT Plan your birth... However you CAN prepare for you birth! The power is in your hands as to how you go about doing this.

Just remember though that there is no right or wrong way to birth... Its about finding your strength within and drawing on that strength and doing what you can at the time. If you feel like you need help then ask for help if you feel like you want to change positions then change positions if you feel like you need to push then listen to your body and if you need to vocalise then you do that!! Because you just need to do whatever it is you need to do to bring your baby into the world and that is all that you can ask from yourself.
