What Hypnobirthing IS NOT: Debunking the Myths and Preparing for Your Birth
As you prepare for your upcoming birth experience, I wanted to take a moment to clarify some common misconceptions about Hypnobirthing and highlight what it truly offers especially my new Hypnobirthing Program the 'Journey to Birth Hypnobirthing' course.
As one of Australia's Leading Hypnobirthing Practitioners and Childbirth Educators and Birth Coaches, I have created this program from over a decade of experience in teaching Hypnobirthing along with other modalities like Optimal Maternal Positioning, Birth Mapping, NLP and Hypnosis techniques. I have taught thousands of parents from all around the world from my Face to Face Childbirth Education Courses on the Gold Coast to my Online Hypnobirthing Courses and i just want to debunk some things about what Hypnobirthing is for you to help you make an informed decision when it comes to the antenatal education you are searching for.
Hypnobirthing is NOT just about having a "natural" birth.
While many people associate Hypnobirthing with natural childbirth, it's much more than that. Hypnobirthing equips you with tools to navigate any birth experience, whether it's natural, assisted, or involves medical intervention and my course even covers Caesarean Birth. The focus is on creating a calm, positive, and empowering experience, no matter the circumstances.
It is NOT some "hippy, woo-woo" way of birthing.
Hypnobirthing is grounded in science and evidence-based practices. It incorporates proven techniques like relaxation, breathing exercises, and visualisation, all designed to reduce stress, manage pain, and support a smoother birthing process.
Hypnobirthing is NOT just about having a water birth.
While water birth can be a beautiful option for some, Hypnobirthing is versatile and adaptable to any birthing environment—whether it's in a hospital, birthing center, or at home. The techniques you’ll learn are applicable in any setting.
It is NOT about having a silent birth.
One of the misconceptions is that Hypnobirthing requires silence. In reality, I teach the power of vocalisation as a tool during labour. Your voice can be a powerful way to release tension, focus your energy, and stay connected to your body’s natural rhythms.
Hypnobirthing is NOT just for the birthing mother or person.
This approach recognises the critical role of the birth partner. Hypnobirthing empowers your partner with tools and techniques to support you effectively, making them an active participant in the birthing process. Together, you create a supportive and united birthing environment.
It is NOT anti-epidural.
Hypnobirthing is about making informed choices that are right for you. If you choose to have an epidural, I teach specific positions and techniques that work in harmony with your decision, helping you maintain comfort and control.
